Axial flow conditioning device for mitigating instabilities

Patent No. 9,651,186

Axial flow conditioning device for mitigating instabilities

A flow conditioning device for incrementally stepping down pressure within a piping system is presented. The invention includes an outer annular housing, a center element, and at least one intermediate annular element. The outer annular housing includes an inlet end attachable to an inlet pipe and an outlet end attachable to an outlet pipe. The outer annular housing and the intermediate annular element(s) are concentrically disposed about the center element. The intermediate annular element(s) separates an axial flow within the outer annular housing into at least two axial flow paths. Each axial flow path includes at least two annular extensions that alternately and locally direct the axial flow radially outward and inward or radially inward and outward thereby inducing a pressure loss or a pressure gradient within the axial flow. The pressure within the axial flow paths is lower than the pressure at the inlet end and greater than the vapor pressure for the axial flow. The invention minimizes fluidic instabilities, pressure pulses, vortex formation and shedding, and/or cavitation during pressure step down to yield a stabilized flow within a piping system.

Reconfigurable label assembly for use with a pet

The front and back panels are separable and the bottom panel is expandable to form the receptacle after the label is removed from the container. The receptacle is capable of holding a consumable pet product. The receptacle is reconfigurable to the label after use as the receptacle so that the label may be directly reattached to the container. The optional attachment elements cooperate to releasably secure the front, back, and bottom panels to the container in the first configuration.

Telescoping syringe with one-way valve

Patent No. 10,450,124

Telescoping syringe with one-way valve

A telescoping syringe suitable for use with medications and other flowable materials is presented. The telescoping syringe includes a one-way valve, a plunger, and a barrel. The valve includes a barrier, an outlet(s) through the barrier, and an annular extension extending from the barrier. The plunger includes an inlet(s) and a proximal wall fixed at one end of a first side wall. The valve directly contacts a distal end of the first wall so that an annular flange extending inward from the annular extension slidingly engages an annular groove along the first wall between first and second positions. The circumferential end of the first wall contacts the barrier in the first position to close the outlet(s). The circumferential end does not contact the barrier in the second position to open the outlet(s). A first reservoir is defined by the first wall, the proximal wall, and the valve. The inlet(s) permits gas to enter the first reservoir as fluid is transferred through the valve to a second reservoir. The barrel includes a second side wall with a nipple fixed to a distal wall at one end and an open end at another end. The plunger is extendable from and retractable into the barrel at the open end via slidable engagement between first and second walls. The second reservoir is defined by the distal wall, the second wall, and the valve.

Self-maintaining crane system within a hostile environment

Patent No. 10,562,742

Self-maintaining crane system within a hostile environment

A self-maintaining crane system including a bridge, a trolley, a hoist, and sensors for use within a hostile environment, such as a wastewater treatment facility, is presented. The cable is extendable away from the hoist home position and retractable toward the hoist end position. The sensors separately determine whether the bridge, trolley, and cable engage a home position and end position. Sensors facilitate automated movement of bridge, trolley, and cable so as to minimize functional impairment of the crane system by the hostile environment.

Wound box trainer

Patent No. 10,586,470

Wound box trainer

A training device applicable to training personnel in the treatment of a traumatic injury is presented. The invention includes a compressible body, a base, a wound structure, and an annular cavity. The compressible body simulates a body portion. The compressible body resides within the base. The base is disposed about a top surface of the compressible body. The base is harder than the compressible body so that the base protectively covers the compressible body. The wound structure is disposed along the compressible body. The wound structure includes a wound cavity which extends from the top surface into the compressible body. The annular cavity extends into the compressible body about the wound cavity. The annular cavity permits movement and/or expansion of a wall defined by and between the wound cavity and the annular cavity when probed by a finger or instrument and packed with gauze, bandages, and the like during treatment of the wound structure to stem blood flow from a bleed tube.

Slurry seal assembly

China Patent No. 102597583

Hydrodynamic circumferential seal system for large translations

A circumferential seal system for sealing a high-pressure region from a low-pressure region separated by a runner with an outer circumferential surface and a seal ring disposed about the outer circumferential surface is described. The seal system includes a plurality of groove sets separately disposed along the outer circumferential surface. Each groove set further includes at least two grooves. At least one groove within each groove set exerts a lifting force via a fluid from the high-pressure region onto the seal ring as the runner translates with respect to the seal ring along an axis substantially perpendicular to the rotation of the runner. The continuous feed of fluid onto the seal ring ensures a thin film between the seal ring and the runner regardless of the relative arrangement during axial excursions of the runner resulting from conditions within a turbine engine.
